LABMED Receives ASPCA Grant!

First, LABMED is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a $2500 grant by the ASPCA to continue our mission of funding medical treatment for ill and/or injured Labradors and Lab-mixes in rescue situations. We are extremely grateful to the ASPCA for considering us worthy of this award and we pledge to use it to fund as many dogs as we can. We have already used a portion of the funds to provide for several of our most recent cases for procedures ranging from surgery to heartworm treatments. Coming at a time when all non-profits are struggling to raise finds, this grant has been a blessing. On behalf of the dogs we have helped and will continue to help, thank you, ASPCA!

LABMED Wants You!

LABMED needs a few good men and women to join our Board of Directors. We have several seats open right now and we really need help. If you have a few hours per week to spare, we can use you. We need people interested in helping with fund-raisers, publicity, handling our case load, and more. If you have Web experience of any kind, that’s a plus, but it’s not necessary. We’re looking for people who believe in what we do and are willing and able to pitch in. All our work is done via e-mail and our Web site, so you can live anywhere (even outside the U.S.) and participate as you are able. Interested? Dogs funded in January, 2011

LABMED Funded 3 dogs in January for a total of $650.

Mr. Big, first dog funded in 2011.

Mr Big, Heart worm Treatment
Maggie 2, Heart worm Treatment and FHO
Ginger 7, diagnostic tests (seizures)

We have many more applications in front of us and are just waiting for invoices from vet clinics or procedures to be done before we send checks so we continuously need donations to help fund these applications. Unfortunately, due to the low amount of donations we have received in the past couple of years, we have had to drastically cut back what we can offer each applicant so ANY size donation is really appreciated as it will help us help more dogs.

2011 QUILT RAFFLE

Here is a teaser — one of the quilts that will be in the LABMED quilt raffle this year is almost done! Info on ticket sales will be posted here as soon as the quilt is done. We hope to have the quilt at the Potomac Lab Specialty.

We hope to have TWO quilts for raffle this year. Here is one of them.
